About

Our mission is to save analog media on the brink of obscurity, while simultaneously creating a digital footprint. Unearthing the history of each archived material is essential to lend provenance and background to the individual pieces of work. When navigating the archive, all artists with multiple works are filed on our collections page. All other organization is done by location.

Your donation makes a difference in safeguarding media that reflects community heritage. Donations are being allocated towards new acquisitions, nonprofit operations, & eventual office space. To check out our donors refer to the donor list.

There are over 537,000,000 sound recordings in collection-holding organizations across the United
States. Nearly 60% of these are estimated to be unique or rare while less than 20% have been digitized.
Almost 250,000,000 of the extant recordings are “preservation-worthy”
(unique, rare, irreplaceable). The cost of digitizing these items would be over $20 billion dollars.
