Tennessee Tom And Joe- The Mountain’s Fading Sounds Of The Dulcimer And Autoharp Vol. 1

The Mountain’s Fading Sounds of the Dulcimer and Autoharp Vol. 1 is an album by father-son group Tennessee Tom And Joe. It is volume one in a series of work by the two. These volumes of work are renditions of country classics on the dulcimer and autoharp. Tom Hicks owned Tom’s Dulcimer Shop in Lookout Mountain during this era which is no longer in business.

Tom Hicks, 1985 in South Texas

Many people still own and trade dulcimers made by Tom Hicks. Tom was in the Navy during WW2, and served for the Chattanooga Police Department before retiring in 1983. There is a strong likelihood he is related to legendary North Carolina dulcimer luthier Stanley Hicks. His son Joe is credited on the autoharp and Mike Mosier is listed for playing guitar on the tape. This tape was manufactured by Crystal INC. and was released in 1983. The album can be played natively below or on YouTube here.
