1995 CD release by Curtis Hicks & The Old Time Strings, which includes two original tracks, six traditionals, and two songs from the 1900’s. Peanut Faircloth wrote both original tracks and was known for his zany one-of-a-kind instruments, including his home-made Flush-A-Phone (a toilet plunger with holes punched in it). As mentioned through their collection, Faircloth was a disc-jockey for many years until his retirement in 1982. He later became narrator for the Southern Belle, and is pictured in photo, front row, bright blue.
The record is available below and on YouTube as well. View the Curtis Hicks Collection in the archive for more music and information on this local ensemble. We are meeting with Curtis in coming weeks with potential to add more music to his collection in our archive. Footage online as well.
